Back-end Developer - J2EE Engineer - Kotlin - Azure
Marshall Wolfe are looking to recruit the services of an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our development team on a contract basis. The post holder will be required to build software using predominantly Java technologies. Our end-client is based in Felixstowe and the post holder will be required to be on-site at least 3 days per week, so will need to live a commutable distance.
Working on an exciting large-scale development project, you will be required to assist in the development of an application, configure existing systems and provide support. You should be a team player and be an excellent communicator. You will work with internal team members but also be required to take the initiative and design, develop and maintain software with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities will include:
- Participate in client-facing requirement gathering and analysis activities
- Collaborate with colleagues to produce software design and architecture
- Write clean, scalable code using a specific programming language in Java
- Test and deploy applications and systems
- Revise, update and debug existing code
- Serve as a client point-of-contact and provide technical support and expertise to no-technical users
Required skills:
- Proven experience in back-end development, in Java or Kotlin, ideally as a lead developer or senior developer
- Experience in Kotlin, or will be willing to cross-train and code in Kotlin
- Experience with some of the following technologies in the technology stack would be beneficial: React, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Kubernetes and Azure cloud (and deploying software to the cloud)
- Familiarity with different architecture styles
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience of working within an Agile environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills- the ability to work with clients directly and develop long-term relationships
