Senior Town Planner

Location: Bedford

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected national planning consultancy in their search for a Senior Town Planner to join their busy Bedford office.

Our client is a well-established consultancy with a proven track record of delivering high-quality planning advice to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Their team works across sectors including residential, commercial, retail, and strategic land, offering comprehensive planning solutions from site promotion through to application and appeal.

Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are now seeking a commercially minded Senior Town Planner to join their Bedford office and play a key role in delivering projects, supporting junior team members, and contributing to business development.

Responsibilities of the Senior Town Planner:

Lead on the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals

Deliver clear, concise advice to clients across a range of sectors

Conduct site appraisals, planning research, and due diligence

Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders

Prepare Local Plan representations and appeal evidence

Support and mentor junior planning staff as required

Assist in developing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities

What we're looking for:

MRTPI qualified or working towards chartered status

Minimum 3 years' planning experience (preferably in consultancy or private sector)

Solid understanding of planning legislation, policy, and procedures

Strong communication and report writing skills

Commercially aware with the ability to manage client relationships

Organised, detail-oriented and capable of working across multiple projects

A full UK driving licence is preferred
