Nomura's Global Markets Division handles client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds around the world. We act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates, securitised products and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products. This team has a strong track record of being at the forefront of providing our clients with innovative structured solutions using the firm's capital on a wide variety of products, including loan-on-loan lending on secured NPLs, senior and mezzanine real estate financing, senior development financing, warehouse financing of both secured and unsecured performing loans, structured repos backed by illiquid ABS bonds, etc.
The role is for an Analyst assisting senior team members in all areas of the team. Nomura's ABS & RE team has an integrated approach, meaning that the role comprises the functions of underwriting and due diligence, structuring and execution, and ongoing monitoring and risk management. On a day-to-day basis, this could involve assisting with market research, undertaking data & financial analysis, cash flow modelling, reviewing monitoring and due diligence reports, preparation of committee memos, dealing with internal/external queries and working with internal transaction systems.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- Appropriate academic qualification in a quantitative, engineering or economics-related subject, with fundamental understanding of financial markets (fixed-income in particular)
- 1-2 years of recent experience in investment banking, real estate or lending/credit related experience
- Comfortable with Excel and Word
- Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and good attention to detail
- Cash flow modelling skills would be strongly preferred
- Articulate and able to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn, good project management skills and a team player
