About the Role An exciting opportunity is available for a Prison Cleared Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Brinsford in Featherstone. This full-time, 3-month locum role offers a competitive rate of £18.18 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay. You will work Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, supporting individuals accessing treatment for alcohol and substance misuse, with a focus on opiate dependency. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in structured drug and alcohol treatment systems and a valid prison clearance.

What You Will Do

  • Provide harm reduction advice, including safer drug use, safer sex, and prevention of blood-borne viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis A, B, and C.
  • Manage a caseload of service users, acting as a key worker.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Review care plans regularly and facilitate onward referrals where appropriate.
  • Support nurse prescribers during prescribing clinics.
  • Deliver structured psychosocial interventions, including CBT-based and motivational techniques.
  • Facilitate group work sessions and recovery-focused programmes.
  • Provide needle exchange services where required.
  • Promote service user involvement and ensure safeguarding and mental health needs are met.
  • Support individuals in their recovery journey, encouraging progression beyond maintenance treatment where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Valid prison clearance is essential.
  • Proven experience in substance misuse and structured treatment services.
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction and recovery-focused approaches.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
