Position: Air Conditioning Engineer (with Chillers & ASHP Experience)

Overview

We're looking for a capable Air Conditioning Engineer with practical experience—ideally including chillers and air source heat pumps. In this role, you'll handle installation, servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting across both commercial and domestic HVAC systems, ensuring all work meets required safety and industry standards.

Core Duties

* Carry out installation, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on AC systems, chillers, and ASHP units

* Identify faults and resolve issues across electrical and mechanical components

* Complete both planned preventative maintenance and reactive call-outs

* Commission newly installed HVAC and heat pump systems

* Work in line with current health & safety guidelines and best practices

* Accurately complete service documentation, reports, and certifications

* Communicate effectively with clients, site teams, and management

* Offer technical advice and support where needed

Experience Required

* Demonstrated background as an Air Conditioning Engineer Practical experience working with:

* Air Source Heat Pumps (residential and/or commercial)

* Split, VRV, and VRF systems

* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities

Qualifications & Certifications

* NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in HVAC, Air Conditioning, or Refrigeration

* Valid F-Gas Category 1 certification (essential)

* City & Guilds or equivalent industry qualifications

* ASHP-related training or manufacturer certification (advantageous)

* Electrical knowledge (18th Edition beneficial but not mandatory)

* Full, clean UK driving licence

Key Skills

* Solid understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems

* Able to work independently as well as within a team

* Strong communication and customer-facing skills

* Well-organised, dependable, and safety-focused

* Comfortable interpreting technical diagrams and manuals

Additional (Desirable) Experience

* Manufacturer training (e.g. Daikin, Mitsubishi, Carrier, Trane)

* Experience across both installation and maintenance environments

* Knowledge of air- or water-cooled chiller systems

* Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS)

* Experience with CO₂ or low-GWP refrigerants

* IPAF, PASMA, or CSCS certifications
