Spire Little Aston Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pre Assessment Nurse to join our fantastic Pre-Assessment unit. Working within a small team, you will use your skills to provide pre-assessment of our surgical patients. This is a unique role which offers great training and support for the right individual to enhance their skill set and experiences.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Pre-assessment of all planned surgical patients
  • Work within the inpatient and day case units
  • Review and interpret patient questionnaires to provide the appropriate assessment
  • Manage an individual caseload
  • Present information to patients
  • Communicate and build solid working relationships with consultants

Who we are looking for

We're looking for someone with good assessment skills. As this is a very busy department, the right individual must have excellent time keeping skills and provide exemplary customer service to patients. We're also looking for:

  • Observation skills and understanding of the NEWS scoring system
  • ECGs - interpreting this with previous experience
  • Blood Sampling - phlebotomy
  • Previous experience of working within a hospital
  • Previous pre-operative assessment experience (Desirable)
