Job Title: Youth Justice Social Worker
Location: Gloucester
Team: Gloucestershire Youth Justice Service
Contract Length: Contract until 21st November 2025 with possible extension
Rate of Pay: £27.44 PAYE / £35.00 LTD (Paid via an umbrella company)

About the Role:
We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Youth Justice Social Worker  within our multi-agency Gloucestershire Youth Justice Service (YJS). The successful candidate will hold a caseload of young people, providing essential support to help reduce offending and risk of exploitation.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of young people open to the service

Complete assessments using the Youth Justice Board (YJB) Prevention and Diversion Assessment tool.

Identify unmet needs and develop child-led plans focused on supporting young people to move away from offending and reduce exploitation risks.

Provide occasional court duty officer cover for the service.

Undertake office duties as required.

Apply both a Child First approach and Trauma Informed Practice in all work with young people.

Person Specification:

Qualified and experienced Youth Justice Social Worker or Probation Officer.

Proven ability to work effectively with young people involved in the youth justice system.

Experience with prevention and diversion strategies in youth justice.

Strong assessment and case management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency team.

Commitment to Child First and Trauma Informed approaches.

Ability to work independently and "hit the ground running" in a fast-paced environment.
