A successful engineering organisation based in Barnsley specialising in Industrial and Machine Automation, is seeking a Workshop Manager to join their rapidly expanding operation.

They offer comprehensive automation solutions encompassing the creation of new machines, customized machinery, upgrades, system integration, and the provision of components along with dedicated support. Their services range from designing and fabricating complete machine systems to supplying individual parts for independent assembly.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Workshop Manager include -

Lead and manage a team of Technicians - providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure efficient and high-quality production.
Coordinate and manage the availability of materials, tools and skilled personnel required for production, optimizing efficiency, and minimizing downtime.
Use your technical background (preferably in electrical or mechanical fitting) to provide expertise in the assembly and testing of automation machinery.
Oversee projects from the design process through to the building process.
Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, including the implementation of lean manufacturing principles such as Kaizen or 6S.

To be successful in this role, we're looking for the following skills and experience -

Strong technical background with prior experience as a qualified electrical technician or mechanical fitter.
Previous experience within a management or supervisory role (preferably a background of manufacturing).
Experience with managing Health and Safety in the workplace, including conducting risk assessments.
Be able to demonstrate strong organisation and leadership skills.
An understanding of site Installation projects and overseeing them
