Support Worker
- Annual Salary: £25,809.30 per annum/pro rata

We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Llansamlet, Swansea. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide practical and therapeutic support to children and young people experiencing mental distress in a non-clinical setting. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in offering guidance, support, and early interventions aimed at improving mental wellbeing and safety.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide 24/7 non-clinical support to children and young people up to the age of 18, with bed provision available.
- Manage and respond to new and current referrals, providing specialist 1:1 support through face-to-face and telephone contact.
- Offer a safe space for individuals experiencing various mental health challenges.
- Identify and refer to appropriate services based on individual needs.
- Develop resilience in individuals, enabling them to self-manage and find solutions in a supportive environment.
- Facilitate a communal area for relaxation and social interaction.
- Provide practical interventions such as meals, beverages, and laundry facilities.
- Record all client interactions accurately on the database system.
- Support individuals in developing short-term recovery plans.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Participate in a flexible rota that includes unsocial hours, weekends, and public holidays.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be a driver and willing to travel as needed (mileage compensated at 49p per mile).
- Experience in a support role, preferably within mental health or social care.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
- Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
