Support Worker

  • Annual Salary: £25,809.30 per annum/pro rata

  • Job Type: Permanent (24, 30, and 36 hours contracts available)

We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Llansamlet, Swansea. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide practical and therapeutic support to children and young people experiencing mental distress in a non-clinical setting. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in offering guidance, support, and early interventions aimed at improving mental wellbeing and safety.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide 24/7 non-clinical support to children and young people up to the age of 18, with bed provision available.
  • Manage and respond to new and current referrals, providing specialist 1:1 support through face-to-face and telephone contact.
  • Offer a safe space for individuals experiencing various mental health challenges.
  • Identify and refer to appropriate services based on individual needs.
  • Develop resilience in individuals, enabling them to self-manage and find solutions in a supportive environment.
  • Facilitate a communal area for relaxation and social interaction.
  • Provide practical interventions such as meals, beverages, and laundry facilities.
  • Record all client interactions accurately on the database system.
  • Support individuals in developing short-term recovery plans.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in a flexible rota that includes unsocial hours, weekends, and public holidays.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must be a driver and willing to travel as needed (mileage compensated at 49p per mile).
  • Experience in a support role, preferably within mental health or social care.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
  • Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
