About Us:

Our Manchester painting team is flourishing, and we are looking to add a talented Quantity Surveyor to our dedicated commercial team. With a strong ethos built on commitment, teamwork, and a customer-centric approach, the team continues to secure cyclical painting projects and varied works, establishing a stable order book for the future. As part of our ongoing success, we seek a Quantity Surveyor who shares in this ethos and can help drive long-term growth for the team in the Northwest.

Our client is proud of their culture of honesty, integrity, and collaboration, and invite driven, people-focused professionals to join their commercial and operational team, specializing in painting, decorating, and planned refurbishment works across the Northwest.

The Role:

As a Quantity Surveyor you will actively tender, estimate, and measure on-site for various contracts. Their work includes prestigious frameworks and contracts within the public, residential, retirement living, commercial, and education sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic professional to support a range of exciting projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:

* Tendering & Estimating: Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks and proposing mitigation strategies.

* Cost Management: Prepare cost value reconciliations, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset.

* Collaboration with Contracts Manager: Work closely with the Contracts Manager to establish and issue productivity and labour targets before contract commencement, including direct labour incentives.

* Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring commercial risks and variations are addressed with mutually beneficial solutions.

* Weekly Reporting: Complete and analyze weekly site reports to ensure adequate cost information, including labour rates, budgets, progress, quality, and safety.

What We're Looking For:

The ideal candidate will be inquisitive, organized, and possess strong interpersonal skills, thriving in a collaborative team environment. You'll have proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role, ideally with a background in painting or refurbishment contracting. A genuine entrepreneurial spirit and a keen eye for business opportunities are highly valued.

Specific requirements include:

* Proven experience managing projects and contracts from tender/estimation through to final account, with a focus on commercial ownership.

* Experience managing projects with a total value of up to £2 million annually.

* A strong analytical approach, with attention to detail and the ability to identify commercial risks and opportunities.

* A 'people person' who enjoys working closely with clients, teams, and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
