O'Neill & Brennan are working in partnership with a reputable main contractor in Hertfordshire, known for delivering high-quality construction projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors. Our client has a strong commitment to safe working practices and is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their growing team.

Role Overview:

The Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across multiple construction sites. You will work closely with project teams, site management, and subcontractors to ensure a proactive approach to HSE management.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across live projects.

Provide professional advice and guidance to site teams on H&S matters, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies.

Support site management in preparing and reviewing RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements).

Lead on accident/incident investigations and produce detailed reports with recommendations.

Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings to site personnel.

Monitor subcontractor compliance and coordinate safety interactions.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's HSE management system.

Maintain accurate HSE documentation and produce monthly performance reports.

Liaise with external bodies including the HSE, local authorities, and client safety representatives when required.

Promote and embed a positive safety culture across all project teams.

Skills & Experience Required:

NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent) - essential.

Experience as a Health & Safety Advisor in the UK construction industry, preferably with a main contractor.

Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and challenge where necessary.

Strong report-writing, organisational, and IT skills.

Proactive, approachable, and able to build strong working relationships at all levels.
