Our client is a specialist UK logistics provider with over 30 years' experience delivering high‑consequence cargo including government, defence, nuclear, medical, and high‑value shipments by road, air and sea, supported by accredited secure warehousing and screening services. As a Regulated Agent and member of IATA, BIFA, FTA and FIATA, they deliver excellence through integrity, adaptability, strategic focus and strict compliance.

Role Purpose:

To lead and manage all HR and people‑related initiatives, champion core values, and support recruitment, onboarding, training and development aligned to the unique security, compliance and service demands of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

- Design and execute recruitment strategies to attract high-calibre candidates.
- Ensure onboarding reflects companies security-sensitive and procedural requirements from day one.
- Oversee security vetting eligibility (e.g. UK SC level clearances, proof of UK residency) in line with government contracts.

2. Training & Development

- Lead training and upskilling initiatives across departments.
- Plan learning interventions in areas such as security procedures, vehicle familiarisation, ADR qualifications, and compliance standards.

3. Employee Engagement & Culture

- Embed company values: excellence, integrity, adaptability, strategic focus in everyday culture.
- Deliver initiatives to strengthen retention, wellbeing and recognition.

4. HR Operations & Compliance

- Manage HR policies, contracts, performance management, absence, and disciplinary processes.
- Ensure compliance with UK employment laws (e.g. GDPR, health & safety, equality and diversity).

5. Health, Safety & Wellbeing

- Support wellbeing through EAP programme (e.g. (email address removed) mental health access, 24/7 GP, physio sessions)
- Monitor engagement, feedback, and staff welfare across operational sites.

6. HR Reporting & Analytics

- Provide strategic insight via HR metrics (turnover, recruitment time, training impact).
- Align HR objectives with company growth and operational capacity.

Person Specification:

Education & Experience:

- CIPD Level 3 (or equivalent) or working towards CIPD Level 5 and above.
- Proven experience in HR generalist/HRBP/People & Culture role within a regulated, compliance-sensitive environment (e.g. logistics, defence, security, nuclear sectors).

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong recruitment and onboarding leadership.
- Experience delivering in-house training and development.
- HR policy writing, employee relations, and disciplinary processes.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Resilient, adaptable with a 'get-it-done' attitude fitting of high‑consequence logistics
