Job Description

JOB LOCATION: JERSEY CITY, NJ

We are a 63-year-young, family-owned, well-respected food distributor located minutes from Manhattan in Hudson County, NJ, seeking an experienced, dynamic, hands-on Business Development/Sales Director. The self-starter must possess superior training and development skills to bolster our sales force, in addition to increasing sales and solidifying relationships with our existing customer base. We are interested in an individual that will take personal responsibility in growing our company into an even more successful specialty food distributor. This position will report to company owners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Direct and lead a sales team in prospecting, cold calling, outside sales, ride-alongs, cultivating new business, consultative selling, sales development of existing accounts, product presentations/food cuttings/TASTE TESTING for current and prospective customers, networking and relationship building.

* Assist in the recruiting and hiring of new sales reps with assuming full responsibility in their training and development.

* Must be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.

* Perform administrative duties such as: preparing sales reports, maintaining sales records, preparing price quotes and menu planning.

* Participate in occasional trade shows, coordinate and run company's annual food show.

* Perform other job-related duties at company owners' request.

EDUCATION:

* High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Business/Marketing or Hospitality preferred

REQUIREMENTS:

* Minimum 5 years sales (institutional foodservice industry strongly preferred) management experience with a demonstrated record of successful sales results

* Excellent motivational and time management skills

* Superior sales training skills with exemplary closing and negotiating skills

* Proficient computer skills; familiar with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint)

* Must pass all background checks
