We’re recruiting an Audit Assistant Manager – Financial Services in Glasgow on behalf of a well-established and growing accountancy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified audit professional to take the next step in their career, managing engagements, supervising junior staff, and building strong relationships with clients in the financial services sector.
The Role
As Audit Assistant Manager, you will support the Audit Manager in delivering high-quality audit engagements across a portfolio of financial services clients. You will take responsibility for planning, executing, and reviewing audit work, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met while mentoring junior team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in audit planning and preparation of audit documentation
- Supervising and delegating work to Audit Seniors and Assistants, ensuring complex tasks are prioritised
- Reviewing audit work to ensure it meets technical standards and is free from quality control issues
- Briefing, training, and mentoring Audit Seniors and Assistants, providing constructive feedback
- Liaising with client staff to build effective professional relationships
- Monitoring budgeted versus actual time spent and reporting issues to the Audit Manager
- Supporting the Audit Manager with client communications, including progress updates and issue resolution
You will play a key role in maintaining audit quality and ensuring clients receive proactive and high-standard service.
About You
You will be a qualified CA (or equivalent) or a part-qualified candidate with substantial audit experience.
You will demonstrate:
- Strong technical knowledge of audit standards, particularly within financial services
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and engagements
- Leadership and mentoring ability, supporting the development of junior staff
- Confidence in client-facing situations and building professional relationships
- A proactive and commercially aware approach to your work
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to positively influence colleagues and clients
