Communication Support Worker - Location:South London

We are seeking a dedicated Communication Support Worker to enable deaf students to access the curriculum and participate fully in all aspects of their educational program. This role is crucial in preparing deaf learners for adult life and requires a skilled individual who can interpret spoken English into British Sign Language (BSL) and adapt learning materials to enhance student participation and success.
Day-to-day of the role: - Interpret spoken and written English into BSL in various settings, supporting learners in producing assignments and other work.
- Adapt and adjust educational materials and methods to meet the needs of deaf learners.
- Collaborate closely with teaching staff, parents, and carers, providing regular updates and participating in planning and review meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of learners' progress, inform planning, progress reviews, and target setting.
- Play an active role in promoting inclusion and SEND awareness, including designing and delivering deaf awareness training.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Proficiency in British Sign Language and experience in interpreting in educational settings.
- Strong understanding of the educational needs of deaf students and the ability to adapt learning materials and environments.
- Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to continuous professional development in SEND practices and BSL.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and produce detailed reports.
