Electrical Design Engineer (Draughtsman) Basildon, Essex | Permanent, Full-Time | £40,000 – £45,000 DOE
Are you a detail-driven Electrical Design Engineer with a passion for precision and practical application? We’re looking for multiple engineers to join a collaborative design team supporting the development of complex automated systems used globally.
This is a great opportunity for someone with solid experience in electrical design who enjoys working alongside panel builders and technicians to bring technical drawings to life.
What You’ll Be Doing: -
Designing detailed 2D and 3D electrical schematics using EPLAN P8 and Pro Panel

Creating wiring diagrams and control panel layouts for automated machinery

Maintaining drawing accuracy and hardware databases throughout the project lifecycle

Generating comprehensive documentation and drawings for the assembly and electrical teams

Collaborating with panel technicians, electricians, and automation engineers to ensure smooth builds

Supporting installation and commissioning when needed
? What We’re Looking For: -
Level 3 qualification or higher in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering

Strong experience in electrical control panel design and layout

Proficiency in EPLAN software (P8 and ideally Pro Panel)

Good knowledge of electrical circuit design and relevant regulations

Attention to detail and clear understanding of how designs translate into physical builds

Awareness of mechanical layout and system integration

Experience working on projects with commissioning requirements
Nice to Have (But Not Essential): -
Experience with production line or capital equipment layout

Background in regulated environments (e.g. pharmaceutical, explosive)

Understanding of sensors, relays, motors, and drives
