St Nicholas’ School is a thriving, forward-looking independent day school for girls aged 3–16 and boys aged 3–7. Our warm and welcoming nursery is our ‘home away from home’. Children learn in a warm, safe and exciting environment, and they are encouraged to develop in confidence by taking risks with their learning, increasing their self-belief, and developing their independence through a better understanding of their skills and abilities. Learning in our nursery is approached through a play-based curriculum, nurturing each and every child to ensure they develop into happy learners.

Our nursery seeks to appoint a suitably qualified (minimum NVQ Level 3) and experienced EFYS practitioner who will play a key role in providing high-quality care and education. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.00pm, term-time only.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent care and education to children aged 3–5 years
  • Plan and implement activities in line with EYFS requirements
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
  • Maintain accurate reports and observations of children’s progress and well-being
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are met

Qualifications and requirements

  • Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification
  • Previous experience working as a nursery practitioner
  • Thorough understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for creating a supportive and enriching learning environment

As an ECT at St Nicholas’ School, in addition to receiving weekly mentoring from a subject mentor, a member of the senior leadership team will also support your development and well-being. You will attend our bespoke professional studies programme to develop your pedagogy and ensure you make rapid progress towards meeting all of the teaching standards.
