Company Overview
Our client is an established and reputable main contractor based in Lancashire, delivering a diverse range of construction projects including new builds, design & build (D&B), and refurbishments notably in the leisure sector. With a strong and growing pipeline of work, typically ranging from £500K to £2M, they are looking to expand their commercial team with the addition of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a supportive and growing team. The role will offer exposure to a mix of estimating, buying support, and commercial duties, providing a well-rounded foundation for career development within the construction industry.
You will work closely with the commercial team, supporting the financial and contractual management of multiple projects while gaining hands-on experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with cost control, budgeting, and financial management across multiple projects
- Support the estimating and buying functions, including obtaining and reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Assist with procurement and negotiation to ensure best value and quality
- Support the preparation of cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial updates
- Work alongside senior team members to manage contracts and ensure compliance with terms
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Provide general commercial support across new build, refurbishment, and D&B projects
- Assist in monitoring project performance to ensure delivery on time and within budget
Key Requirements
- Ideally 1+ year experience in a Quantity Surveying or similar role
- Some exposure to estimating, buying, or commercial project support
- Understanding of construction processes, particularly within main contracting
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
- Good numerical and commercial awareness
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
