Peterborough, UK

Company: REED

Job Type: Permanent, FullTime

Salary: £32,916 - £47,472 per annum

Are you a teacher who believes in the power of connection?

Someone who knows that before a pupil can learn, they need to feel safe, understood, and valued?

If you’re passionate about nurturing children who need a little extra support academically, emotionally, and socially then this could be the role that truly ignites your purpose.

About the Role

We’re seeking a compassionate, resilient, and creative SEMH Nurture Primary Teacher to join us from September.

This is no ordinary teaching position; it’s an opportunity to transform the learning journeys of pupils who have experienced challenges that have shaped how they see the world.

You’ll be teaching in a nurturing environment with smaller class sizes, increased staffing, and a therapeutic, relationship-focused approach. This isn’t high-pressure mainstream, it’s highly purposeful, personalised education.

A Typical Day? No Such Thing.

Every child’s needs are different.

Every day offers new moments of breakthrough.

You’ll deliver a broad primary curriculum, your specialist subject knowledge is welcome, but adaptability is key. Whether you're teaching literacy one hour and exploring science or outdoor learning the next, you’ll be supported by a strong team who share your vision.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Creating a warm, predictable, nurturing classroom where pupils can thrive
  • Delivering lessons across a range of primary subjects
  • Building trusting relationships with pupils who need consistency and care
  • Using creative approaches to engage learners with complex SEMH needs
  • Working closely with support staff, therapists, and leaders
  • Celebrating progress that is sometimes academic, sometimes emotional, always meaningful

What We're Looking For

You might come from mainstream, SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or be a newly qualified teacher with the right passion and outlook.

What matters most is that you are:

  • Emotionally intelligent
  • Patient and warm
  • Unflappable under pressure
  • Skilled at building relationships
  • Open-minded, adaptable, and reflective
  • Driven to help every learner feel capable and confident

Your specialist subject whether English, Maths, Science, PE, Creative Arts or something else is a bonus. But the heart of this role lies in nurture, not narrow subject focus.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Small, highly supported classes
  • Therapeutic and relational approach
  • A team that lifts each other up
  • Freedom to be creative and teach in the way children learn best
  • A purpose-filled role that genuinely changes young lives
