We’re looking for an experienced Interim Senior Accountant who can step in quickly, provide immediate financial expertise and maintain stability during a period of transition. This role suits someone who is confident working at pace, managing complex financial activities and delivering high quality advice from day one.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Provide advanced financial advice to senior leaders and budget holders.
• Lead on revenue and/or capital budget preparation and ongoing monitoring.
• Prepare statutory accounts and key financial reports.
• Deliver financial modelling and impact analysis to support decision making.
• Advanced knowledge of Council financial regulations and accounting procedures and practices.
• Support officers with financial regulations and ensure strong controls remain in place.
• Oversee the workload of junior accounting staff where required.

You will be a qualified accountant (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with strong experience in budgeting, financial reporting and analysis, be able to assess issues quickly and implement robust financial solutions. A proactive approach to identifying risks and recommending solutions is required as well as high attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining strong financial controls.

Hybrid working - 1 day a week in the office. Contract is expected to be 3 months.
