As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead major UK projects while also contributing to global excellence through your role in the Global Engineering Team (GET) - responsible for driving QA/QC, technical governance, standardisation and engineering best practice across our worldwide business. • Leadership on Mission-Critical Projects - Lead electrical design for large-scale data centres across the UK — from feasibility and concept through RIBA stages, detailed design, procurement, construction support and commissioning. You’ll influence system resilience, efficiency, power quality, redundancy strategy and long-term performance for mission-critical facilities.
• Global QA/QC Leadership - As a key member of the Global Engineering Team (GET), you will: Drive consistent electrical engineering standards across all global regions. Lead and support technical audits, peer reviews and QA/QC gateways. Contribute to global design templates, tools, specifications and engineering methodologies. Promote best practice and standardisation across international teams. Your expertise will help ensure world-class delivery across Black & White’s global footprint.
• Strategic Client Partnership -Work directly with national and global technology clients, providing senior-level electrical expertise, design assurance and strategic planning. You’ll translate complex power, redundancy and operational requirements into resilient, compliant and future-ready engineering solutions.
• Technical Depth & Innovation - Oversee detailed electrical design packages including: HV/LV distribution systems. UPS and resilience strategies. Generator systems and fuel infrastructure. Earthing, bonding, lighting and containment. Power system studies (load flow, fault, discrimination, arc flash). Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, BS/EN/IEC standards, CIBSE guidance, IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), G99/G100 requirements and wider UK energy policies and sustainability expectations.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration - Collaborate with mechanical, civil, structural, sustainability, architecture, BIM and commissioning teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions aligned to the stringent demands of mission-critical environments.
• Talent Development & Team Leadership - Mentor electrical engineers, support global and UK training initiatives and help strengthen engineering capability across the business. Through GET, you’ll contribute to knowledge-sharing programmes, CPD development and global engineering excellence initiatives.
• Business Influence & UK Growth - Support the expansion of Black & White’s UK electrical engineering capability - helping win new work, strengthening client relationships and elevating our technical reputation across the mission-critical sector.

Essential Skills

• Extensive UK experience in electrical building-services engineering, ideally in data centres, industrial, healthcare or other mission-critical environments.
• Deep technical knowledge of HV/LV distribution, UPS systems, generators, redundancy topologies (N+1, 2N etc), fault studies, power quality and resilience engineering.
• Excellent understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations, UK Building Regulations, BS/EN/IEC standards, G99/G100 and relevant UK utility and compliance frameworks.
• Strong proficiency with electrical design and simulation tools including Amtech/Trimble ProDesign, ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, Revit and relevant modelling software.
• Proven leadership experience on major, complex projects and working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with QA/QC, peer reviews or engineering governance is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence representing electrical engineering with clients and regulatory bodies.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng, MIET) or actively working toward recognised professional status.
