Westmorland & Furness Council are looking to recruit Residential Support Workers on both full time and part time basis.
Our vision is simple - to support children & young people with learning disabilities to grow, learn, develop, and live a positive and fulfilled life. We strive to deliver an outstanding needs led respite service for our children, young people, and their families. We develop and improve their independent living skills, social interactions and build confidence to give them the opportunities to always unlock and reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. We want them to be able to express their individuality and be the best version of themselves.
The ethos of the home is to provide a home from home environment where children can grow and develop through a nurturing process that caters to their individuality. We are committed to providing a caring environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
* The Welfare and needs of the young person are paramount
* A child centred approach is the forefront of all practice in a safe, caring, relaxed and homely environment.
* Children and young people are always treated with love, respect, and dignity, so they can feel confident and secure.
* Communication is highly regarded, and we take time to listen and communicate effectively with all the young people and listen to their views and wishes.
* Independence and choice are promoted with enthusiasm at Huntley Avenue. We have high expectations of, and aspirations for everyone
* The young people are empowered to make decisions about their lives and are encouraged to acquire and develop skills.
* All young people are supported in their health, education, and development.
* Working together is important and as a team we value the input of others in caring for young people who receive a service to enable consistency of care for them.
* As individuals and as a staff team we reflect on our practice in team meetings, supervisions, and appraisals to improve the care we offer to the young people.
* We aim to understand and meet each child's personal, emotional, social, religious, and cultural needs by working with the young people and their families.
* Young people are assisted with their transition into adulthood with care planning and support to their new environment.
* Staff hope to provide a fun and enjoyable experience for young people and encourage them to develop peer and social interactions.
* There is an expectation that parents will work alongside us to help their child achieve their targets and develop independence and social skills.
