HGV Class 1 Driver – Solihull

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Solihull, West Midlands.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a well-known supplier of household goods, offering plenty of ongoing work and long-term opportunities.

Shifts

• Monday to Friday
• Start times between 03:00 and 06:00
• Some weekend availability required

Rates of Pay

• £17.00 per hour (Monday to Friday)
• £18.00 per hour (Saturday)
• £19.00 per hour (Sunday)

Day-to-Day Duties

• Operating and driving Category CE vehicles safely and efficiently
• Carrying out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Ensuring all loads are loaded and secured correctly
• Adhering to traffic laws and regulations
• Communicating effectively with dispatch and customers
• Maintaining accurate records of shipments, mileage and fuel consumption
• Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance needs to management
• Assisting with loading and unloading of cargo as required
• Completing up to 3 store deliveries or trunking work depending on the run

Essential Skills

• Valid UK Category CE driving licence
• Minimum of 12 months’ experience driving CE vehicles
• Valid UK Driver CPC card and Digital Tachograph card
• No more than six penalty points and no major endorsement codes
• Good level of spoken and written English
• Experience operating various trailer types
• Punctual with excellent time-keeping
• Effective communication skills
• Flexible and available to work overtime when required
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience driving commercial vehicles

Training Provided

• Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout
