Job Specification: Head Chef – Coffee Shop

7am - 3pm
5 out of 7 day shifts
As the Head Chef , you will be creative with , with a passion for fresh, high-quality food. You will be responsible for leading the kitchen operations of a busy, high-quality coffee shop
This role involves menu development, food preparation, staff management, inventory control, and ensuring consistent delivery of fresh, appealing, and cost-effective dishes that complement the café’s beverage offering. The Head Chef maintains high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and efficiency.
Create and update seasonal menus that align with the coffee shop’s brand, customer preferences, and cost targets.
Develop recipes, maintain portion controls, and ensure consistency across all dishes.
Introduce new dishes, specials, and bakery/pastry items where appropriate.
Kitchen Operations
Team Leadership & Training
Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, prep staff, and kitchen assistants.
Motivate the team and maintain a positive, productive kitchen culture.
Inventory & Cost Control
Manage stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and place supplier orders.
Control food costs, reduce waste, and maintain profitability targets.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
Proven experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef
Strong culinary skills with an understanding of breakfast, brunch, and light lunch menus.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
Knowledge of vegetarian, vegan, or dietary-specific menu development.
