Here's what your week could look like:

• Owning the monthly management accounts for your business unit.
• Producing clear variance analysis and commercial reporting that actually gets used.
• Running flash forecasts and steering budgets and reforecasts.
• Working hand-in-hand with operations to spot opportunities and keep costs in check.
• Getting involved in bids, tenders and wider strategic projects.

To make this work, you'll need to be a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or QBE with solid experience in budgeting, forecasting and analysis. Just as important is the ability to get non-finance stakeholders on side and present financial insight in a way that changes outcomes.
