Anderson Knight is partnering with a leading global distribution company to recruit an Assistant Finance Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take a step into a leadership role within a busy commercial finance team.

The Role

You will manage a small finance team, taking responsibility for the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting. Acting as a key contact for internal stakeholders and clients, you'll ensure all processes run smoothly, drive improvements, and support projects and system developments across the finance function.

Responsibilities

Lead and support your team, providing coaching, training, and appraisals to help them develop professionally.

*

Ensure management accounts and month-end reporting are accurate and completed on time.

*

Act as the main point of contact for escalations and assist your team in resolving queries efficiently.

*

Work directly with clients to address queries and capture their financial requirements.

*

Oversee the general ledger and review balance sheet reconciliations, setting targets for clearing outstanding items.

*

Authorise payments and ensure bank reconciliations are reviewed and accurate.

*

Identify and implement process improvements, including automation opportunities, to enhance efficiency.

*

Support finance projects and ensure clear process documentation is maintained.

*

Undertake ad hoc finance tasks as required by senior management.

Candidate Requirements

*

Strong finance experience, ideally working towards a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS).

*

Experience managing a small team

*

Knowledge of management accounting, reporting, and variance analysis.

*

Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.

*

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business.

*

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.

*

Detail-oriented and process-focused, with a mindset for controls and improvements.
