We're supporting a well-established logistics organisation operating in a highly regulated, operationally complex environment. The Birmingham based business forms part of a larger international group, bringing strong governance, investment, and best-practice standards, while retaining autonomy and pace locally. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Financial Reporting Accountant, where you'll take ownership of financial reporting, controls, and compliance. The role sits at the centre of finance activity, offering visibility across operations, exposure to group reporting requirements, and the chance to genuinely shape reporting standards and processes. It's an ideal role for a technically strong, qualified accountant looking to step into a broader, influential position. You'll be the key point of contact for reporting matters, working closely with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and the wider group finance function.Key Responsibilities
  • Ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
  • Preparation and review of statutory accounts under UK GAAP/IFRS
  • Leading controls and compliance activity, including SOX-aligned frameworks
  • Acting as the main contact for external auditors
  • Maintaining and strengthening financial controls, policies and procedures
  • Supporting group reporting and consolidation requirements
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and complex accounting areas
  • Providing technical accounting guidance across the finance team
  • Partnering with operational and commercial stakeholders
  • Driving continuous improvement across reporting processes and systems
Candidate Profile
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Circa 2- 4 years post-qualification experience
  • Background with strong financial reporting exposure
  • Experience within logistics, transport, infrastructure, manufacturing or similar operational environments is highly desirable
  • Exposure to SOX, international groups, or regulated businesses advantageous
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with a controls-focused mindset
  • Confident communicator with strong attention to detail and ownership mentality
