Lead CompEx Electrician - Permanent Position

Location: Runcorn (Workshop-Based)

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead CompEx Electrician to join our team in Runcorn. This is a workshop-based role, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to lead electrical activities within a busy, well-established engineering environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing electrical work, completing inspection and testing activities, and ensuring compliance with all hazardous area regulations (ATEX/DSEAR).

Key Responsibilities

Lead and carry out electrical installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair activities within the workshop.

*

Perform Test & Inspection duties to BS 7671 standards, producing accurate and detailed reports.

*

Complete work in hazardous environments in line with CompEx competency (Ex01-04 or equivalent).

*

Mentor and support junior electricians and apprentices, ensuring high standards of workmanship.

*

Ensure all electrical tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to required quality levels.

*

Maintain accurate documentation, test certification, and job records.

*

Liaise with supervisors, engineering staff, and clients to deliver work on time and in line with project requirements.

*

Uphold strict health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.

Requirements

*

Time-served / fully qualified electrician (NVQ Level 3, AM2 or equivalent).

*

Valid CompEx qualification (Ex01-04 minimum; additional units advantageous).

*

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

*

Experience with electrical inspection & testing; 2391 / 2394/5 desirable.

*

Strong knowledge of ATEX/DSEAR requirements in hazardous areas.

*

Ability to read and work from electrical drawings and schematics.

*

Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.

*

Previous workshop or industrial electrical experience beneficial.
