Management Accountant

Our client in the legal sector is looking for a new Management Accountant to join their growing team in London, reporting into the Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce timely and accurate month-end management accounts, including journals, prepayments, accruals and fixed asset updates.
• Carry out detailed balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and strong financial controls.
• Oversee the full supplier invoice process, from coding and approval workflows to maintaining smooth relationships with vendors.
• Prepare and submit VAT/GST returns and ONS reports in line with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements.
• Support the year-end audit by coordinating documentation, preparing audit samples and responding to auditor queries.
• Assist with tax-related activities, including data collation for corporation tax and preparation of PSA submissions.
• Manage client account processes in accordance with Solicitor Accounts Rules, ensuring full compliance and accurate record-keeping.
• Provide occasional cover for the billing team during busy periods or holiday absences to maintain service continuity.
• Support junior finance colleagues by sharing knowledge, reviewing work and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified or finalist Accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with exposure to a legal or professional services environment. Strong technical skills across financial reporting, transactional finance, compliance and tax will be needed. As well as this, systems experience, including strong excel skills will also be important. High communicative ability is necessary to support other operational functions too.
