Position Summary:

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to lead the development, integration, and delivery of complex surveillance and sensor systems for both government and private sector projects. This role spans the full systems engineering lifecycle—from bid and concept to site installation, test, and acceptance—and requires the ability to work across disciplines including radar technology, embedded software, and integrated naval electronics.

Key Responsibilities:

*

Ownership of system design, definition, and integration of multi-sensor platforms.

*

Support pre-sales and bid teams with technical input, BoMs, and architecture documents.

*

Conduct system-level testing, verification, and formal acceptance trials both in-house and on client sites.

*

Work closely with hardware, software, and mechanical engineers to define and align system-level requirements and interfaces.

*

Create technical specifications, ICDs, FAT/SAT protocols, verification matrices, and customer-facing reports.

*

Collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers (often international) to resolve technical queries, provide updates, and support troubleshooting.

*

Represent engineering during installation and commissioning activities, including on naval platforms and elevated structures.

*

Ensure safety, compliance, and risk assessments are completed in line with industry and legislative requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience:

*

Proven experience delivering systems engineering activities across the V-model lifecycle or similar frameworks.

*

Background in sensor fusion, radar systems, electronic surveillance, or integrated platform electronics.

*

Competent in reading electrical schematics, block diagrams, interface descriptions, and wiring schedules.

*

Exposure to systems involving protocols such as RS485, RS232, TCP/IP, CANbus, Modbus, or proprietary serial protocols.

*

Strong interdisciplinary awareness (software, mechanical, electrical, systems).

*

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of producing both technical documents and user-facing content.

*

Willingness to travel at short notice (domestic and international).

*

Degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or similar technical discipline.

Desirable Experience:

*

Familiarity with maritime/naval systems, shipboard electronics, or airborne radar integration.

*

Working knowledge of embedded real-time systems and Linux-based development environments.

*

Understanding of RF propagation, antenna systems, and radar theory.

*

Experience working within MOD or NATO-compliant environments.

*

Participation in system-level safety and hazard analysis (e.g., FMEA, HAZOP, or SWIFT).

*

Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., IET, INCOSE, IEEE).

*

Ability to lead small engineering teams or work package delivery within a matrix structure.

Physical & Operational Considerations:

*

Role may involve working at heights (up to 40 metres), in confined spaces, or outdoors in varying weather conditions.

*

May be required to carry a 10kg tool kit across long distances and climb vertical ladders.

*

Medical fitness checks may be required periodically in accordance with health and safety best practices.

Workplace Behaviour & Compliance:

*

Commitment to safe working practices and compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, including correct use of PPE.

*

Ability to follow structured processes, documentation standards, and quality control procedures.

*

Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage priorities across multiple ongoing projects.

*

Must be eligible to obtain and retain appropriate security clearance under national regulations
