Our client is a specialist engineering design company delivering complex clean and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Principal Civil Design Engineer to play a key leadership role within their Manchester-based team.

This position offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical excellence with strategic input, influencing project delivery, technical standards, and team development.

The Role

As a Principal Civil Design Engineer, you will:

Lead the civil design delivery of major clean and wastewater infrastructure projects

Act as technical authority across multiple schemes, ensuring quality and consistency

Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical development for engineers across the team

Work closely with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary stakeholders

Contribute to technical governance, best practice, and continuous improvement

About You

You will ideally have:

A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

Extensive experience in clean and/or wastewater infrastructure design

Proven capability leading design teams and complex work packages

Strong knowledge of UK water industry standards and regulations

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Chartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
