ALink Recruitment are working with a well-established fire and risk consultancy who are looking for Fire Engineers of different levels, across multiple of their UK based offices. Most urgently, London, Manchester, Bath and Oxford. The client offers comprehensive services including fire strategy development, construction advice, advanced analyses like CFD and evacuation modelling, technical research, portfolio fire safety, and expert witness work.

As a Fire Engineer, you'll be a technically adept and highly communicative professional involved in diverse, innovative building projects—from heritage sites to tech campuses to healthcare facilities. You'll apply engineering principles, advanced modelling, and stakeholder collaboration to develop fire safety solutions that protect people, property, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Fire Strategy Development - Lead fire safety strategies through concept, detailed design, and implementation phases

* Construction Phase Advisory - Provide critical guidance on timber structures, modular systems, façades, passive protection, and active fire systems during construction

* Advanced Technical Analysis - Perform CFD smoke modelling, dynamic evacuation and radiation modelling, structural fire engineering, and other complex analyses

* Research and Standards Development - Contribute to technical research, industry code development, and academic collaboration to drive innovation

* Portfolio Fire Safety and Risk Assessment - Conduct fire risk assessments, surveys, remediation planning, and policy development for ongoing asset safety

* Expert Reviews and Witnessing - Deliver independent reviews for compliance, serve as expert witness, and oversee litigation‑related assessments

* Project Delivery and Stakeholder Engagement - Maintain continuity from project inception through delivery, acting as technical lead and point of contact throughout the project lifecycle—especially valuable in phased or high-risk projects

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

* Bachelor's degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent) in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety, Civil/Structural, Mechanical or related engineering discipline

* Strong grasp of UK fire safety legislation and building regulations

* Proficiency with fire modelling tools—such as CFD, evacuation simulation, structural fire modelling

* Excellent technical writing and report-development skills

* Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including with architects, contractors, regulators

* Analytical, detail-oriented, with a collaborative and problem-solving mindset

* Driving licence (for site visits)

Desirable

* MSc, MEng, or doctorate (particularly in fire-related research)

* Chartership in Engineering (e.g., IFE, CEng, SFPE)

* Experience in timber design, facade systems, or complex modular structures

* Background in fire safety research or standard development.

* Experience in acting as an expert witness
