The new Escort MK1 RS by Boreham Motorworks is being built in Newton Aycliffe! The DRVN Automotive Group are exclusively looking for skilled Coach Builder / BIW (Body in White) fabricators who also have niche vehicle experience to join the team and build these sought after continuation cars at DRVN Automotive's centre for fabrication and paint excellence on Newton Aycliffe's Business Park.

The first of several models in our range, this limited run of 300bhp/800kg road and race cars are officially licensed by Ford making this a unique opportunity to work on an incredibly significant project in the rich history of the brand.

You will be responsible for assembling and fabricating the structural components of niche vehicle bodies prior to painting and final assembly. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and expertise in various fabrication techniques to ensure the integrity and quality of the vehicle body to an OEM standard. The cars we are building and delivering to our global customer base are all new vehicles, not restorations.

Situated in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, our North East Site boasts a state-of-the-art production facility spanning 40,000 square feet. Equipped with specialised workshop bays dedicated to fabrication, bodywork and paint, our facility stands as a testament to our commitment to precision and quality. As we surge ahead, production at our facility is poised for rapid expansion throughout 2025, reflecting our unwavering dedication to growth and innovation.

Responsibilities

* Company Policies: Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company

* Body shell assembly: Assemble the escort body shell using structural components and panels to form a body shell to our specifications and quality standards.

* Gap and flush: To be able to create a body shell with high accuracy panel gaps around doors, bonnet and boot

* Welding: Perform welding on the body shell using MIG and spot welding, to join metal components together securely and accurately.

* Metal Forming: Utilise metal forming equipment such as presses, rollers, and brakes to shape and form sheet metal into required components during the build.

* Assembly: Assemble fabricated components into the body structure, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and finish.

* Assess body lines: Ensure that the assembly has the required body lines in good order ready for body painting

* Development: Assist in developing prototype body build phases, identifying fabrication processes and jig and fixture concerns to ensure alignment with production intent.

* Quality Control: Inspect fabricated components and assembled structures to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.

Essential Skills

* Proven experience as a coachbuilder working on vintage, classic or modern classic cars

* The ability to be able to skilfully manipulate mild steel pressed panels and assemble them

* Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, equipment, and materials

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and follow guidance documents

* Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, repeatable work

* Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

* Physical ability and dexterity to perform fabrication tasks in a fast-paced production environment

* Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations and procedures

Desirable skills

* An understanding of industry and regulatory requirements such Quality System Regulations (IATF16949, ISO9001, 5S, TPM, KPI's)

* Coded TIG welding qualifications already held (for vehicle roll cage installation)

* Experience in low volume, high quality car body production using traditional metalworking techniques

* An interest or high-level knowledge in the design and engineering of classic Ford vehicles
