A leading design and manufacturing business are currently recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team of 50 people, the role is based in Thetford, Norfolk. As a member of the management team, you will provide the leadership necessary for the effective and successful day-to-day operation of the production departments. You will be an advocate for strategy, purpose, aims, vision, and to work effectively with others to achieve the synergies that delivers objectives and results.

Purpose of role:

To manage the production facilities in terms of output, productivity and profitability, ensuring profitable growth by tightly controlling operations, costings, suppliers, logistics and the supply chain whilst supplying excellent quality products on-time and on-budget to satisfy all customers both internal and external.

Also to liaise closely with the other business departments to achieve a seamless one-company approach through operations, production and logistics.

Experience:

  • A proven track record within senior manufacturing and operational roles and modern-day
  • manufacturing technics.
  • Good commercial understanding and in-depth knowledge of pricing, costing and operational delivery.
  • Experience in managing a diverse and busy team environment.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and diplomacy skills.
  • Proven track record in continually improving operational KPI’s, developing management initiatives, change management and cost reduction.
  • Demonstrable understanding of management techniques, Lean Manufacturing and process control.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Business studies or Manufacturing.
  • Desirable - Sound management experience gained ideally within a WoodMill CNC environment or within the furniture or point of sale sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of production, assembly and fitting Staff in close liaison with associated supervisors and managers.
  • To set appropriate goals/objectives for your staff and conduct appraisals in a timely manner.
  • To coach and lead by example, developing your team to reach their full potential, ensuring team members take ownership and responsibility for their own work.
  • To achieve the agreed production margins.
  • Develop, maintain and report on a weekly production MI pack with agreed KPI’s.
  • To access customer’s orders providing the best method of construction and manufacture.
  • Provide input into setting budgets for own areas of responsibility and then track and manage spend against those budgets.
  • To develop and execute strategies that improve business performance, profitability and deliver improved efficiencies and production volumes.
  • To achieve mutually agreed annual performance objectives, attendance at a monthly management meeting to discuss overall performance of your areas of responsibility.
  • To lead a weekly production meeting addressing issues in a timely manner and effectively communicate the Production Schedules to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure Health and Safety procedures are adhered to and that a safe working environment is maintained.
  • To ensure that all employees are properly trained in the correct Health and Safety and in respect of equipment operation.
  • Develop and ensure a team culture that motivates and inspires excellent collective and individual performance, and embraces change whilst delivering continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and ensure adherence to all policies, procedures and standards.
