Project Engineer - Safety and Surveillance Solutions

Location: Gloucestershire (with travel across the Southwest as required)
Type: Permanent, Full Time with a highly competitive annual salary
Hours: Flexible schedule to support project delivery, including occasional out-of-hours work

This established provider of Safety and Surveillance Solutions is seeking an additional Project Engineer to take ownership of technical project delivery across a new and existing customer sites and facilities.  You will coordinate installation teams and subcontractors, ensure compliance and quality, manage documentation and commissioning, and hand over projects cleanly to the operations service team.

Key Responsibilities

Review surveys, proposals, and drawings; validate scope and risks
Produce or markup device layouts, block diagrams, schedules, and I/O lists
Prepare RAMS, test plans, and commissioning strategies
Confirm access, permits, and site readiness with clients and control

Develop task plans and daily plans for engineers
Brief installation teams and ensure job packs and materials are complete
Coordinate specialist subcontractors and site logistics
Monitor progress, escalate blockers, and adjust sequencing as needed

Audit installations against drawings and standards; close out snags
Ensure compliance with NSI Gold and BAFE SP203-1
Maintain site records, including H&S observations and toolbox talks

Commission systems and witness tests with clients
Produce as-built documentation, test results, and O&M manuals
Train end users and complete formal handover to Service

Validate take-offs and support procurement
Identify and price variations; secure client approvals
Track labour and materials against budget; report risks to margin

Maintain site diaries, change logs, and action lists
Lead or contribute to progress meetings; circulate minutes
Keep all stakeholders informed, including clients and internal teams

Knowledge of Systems & Standards

Fire detection and alarms: BS 5839-1 & BS 5839-6
Intruder, access control, and CCTV: British Standards & NSI Codes of Practice
Networking: PoE, VLANs, IP addressing, and device commissioning
Experience

3+ years in project engineering or senior installation roles in fire & security
Commissioning experience
Proficient in reading and producing drawings (AutoCAD)
Experience delivering projects in live and construction environments
Qualifications

FIA training units or manufacturer equivalents (e.g. BS5839-1 Fundamentals)
ECS or CSCS card (SSSTS advantageous)
PASMA and IPAF desirable
Full UK driving licence
