You will also manage small to medium-sized projects, promote health & safety, and work with procurement to secure high-quality contracted services.The ideal candidate will be either a hands-on facilities manager or a mechanically-biased facilities engineer looking to step into management. You will have a strong mechanical facilities engineering background, with excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.This is a great opportunity for a facilities manager who is currently out of work, or a mechanical facilities engineer seeking to move into a leadership role. You'll be technically challenged, given autonomy, and have the opportunity to make a real impact on an already impressive building.The role:*Ensure continuous site availability through effective maintenance programs and statutory compliance, focusing on mechanical plant.* Manage small to medium-sized projects, including mechanical installations, upgrades, and repairs.* Oversee health & safety standards with contracted resources, ensuring safe work practices.* Work with Procurement and Estates to secure high-quality, cost-effective contracted services.* Support the development of a skilled estates team, ensuring customer-focused service delivery.* Manage mechanical maintenance, including BMS systems, HVAC, and gas infrastructure, and respond to emergency maintenance needs.* Develop and update asset management systems, implement energy efficiencies, and ensure accurate maintenance and compliance records.The person:*Have a strong hands on mechanical facilities/ building service engineering background.*Live in a commutable distance to Newcastle.*Happy with a 6 month contract role with the potential to go perm (highly likely)*Candidates will ideally have some management experience but candidate who don't but want to move into management
