The production manager, residential and commercial remodeling, new home construction, is responsible for ensuring that each project is completed in a timely manner, within or under the estimated budget and to the client’s satisfaction. The production manager accomplishes this by directing all field employees, subcontractors, material suppliers, inspectors, and others in the efforts needed to achieve these goals. This includes hiring, firing, training and coaching field employees, as well as organizing and scheduling their work.

Reviews final plans and specifications to ensure timely filing of building permits.
Field checks each sales contract verifying the salesperson's cost breakdown to determine whether the job can be done at both the company's established quality level and specified profit.
Orders all material and tracks delivery times ensuring that material arrives at the job site when needed.
Revises project scope at Mark Outs and as needed due to complications during project. Creates associated Change Orders and maintains specifications/requisition records of these activities for each job in a cloud based construction management software.
Meets with salesperson, designer and customers in a preconstruction conference to discuss scope, potential problems, and decisions made by the customers.
Maintains frequent (at least weekly) communication with the customer throughout the job. Communicates with the customer in person (while checking the job), by phone, or in writing. The weekly update email to the customer to discuss past and impending progress is expected to be logged online for the project as well as progress photos and documentation of any inspection reports.
Oversees the prompt triggering and pickup of progress draws.
Verifies that routine change orders are captured online by the admin team and approved by the customer. Coordinates with the sales department on the pricing and selling of substantial/non routine work change orders.
Conducts a pre-completion walk-through with the lead carpenter to prepare a quality control punch list. Expedites the completion of the punch list, completes the final educational walk-through with the customer and follows up any punch list items until the final payment check is collected.
Approves all requests for payment to subcontractors. Verifies that requests are properly allocated to a job, priced accordingly, and that the invoices reflect actual shipments.
Coordinates all necessary inspections during the course of a job
Maintains an adequate work force of carpenters, helpers and/or trainees to meet the needs of the company. This responsibility includes hiring, training and the authority to fire.
Conducts annual reviews with carpenters, establishes goals and follows up with a quarterly review to track progress and address concerns. Devises incentive programs for individual crew members to maximize performance.
Conducts production portion of weekly company meeting to review schedule and budget. Tracks production versus estimated production and creates reports to review with the carpenters during said meeting.
Attends post mortem review with Sales to review job cost reports. Researches cost overruns. Meets with the lead carpenter, designer and sales team to create plans on how to eliminate these overruns on future projects.
Oversees the maintenance of all vehicles, tools, and equipment. Schedules maintenance and prompt repairs when necessary.
Submits to management a monthly production report including progress on each job, percentage of completion, detail of unexpected issues and customer satisfaction gauge.

RedesignKC is excited to announce an opening for Production Manager (PM). The ideal candidate will have 10 years project management experience in residential and commercial remodeling. A degree in construction management or similar is a plus.
Experience with and working knowledge of the conditions and issues to be expected in 100 year old homes is important to this role. Successful Production Managers with RedesignKC will comfortably manage 7-8 projects. The PM position will have autonomy and independence to complete the job as he or she sees fit. The PM position is a part of the leadership team at redesignKC. The leadership team is responsible for long term planning, the annual budget including bonus and profit sharing decisions and hiring.
The Production Manager position is primarily an information sharing role. Excellent communication is absolutely necessary for this role, timely and accurate information will be critical to success. The PM will be responsible for executing an extensive communication plan. This includes managing the information shared on a cloud based construction management software, weekly email updates of impending progress, regular updates on employee and subcontractor progress, project logging, progress photos, employee schedules, subcontractor schedule adjustments, change orders, file uploads and sharing. The role is one of only two client facing positions for the duration of each project. When managing expectations with our customers you will be required to present an image in line with the company’s brand. Other attributes that will contribute to success in this role include: organization, punctuality, dedication to quality, aptitude for learning, moderate computer skills, flexibility, ability to take direction and execute, and a strong decision making ability.
The role also requires managing 8-10 in-house carpenters and the daily, weekly and monthly schedules. The PM will review the weekly timesheets for accuracy and conduct weekly safety meetings.
