Reed Engineering are working with an innovative building services contractor team, delivering outstanding residential and commercial projects. We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical & Plumbing Design Engineer to contribute to the complete lifecycle of mechanical building services design.

Responsibilities:

  • Create schematics, layouts, elevations, and detailed mechanical drawings using AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
  • Perform mechanical engineering calculations, including heat loss, pipework, and duct sizing using tools like Hevacomp.
  • Prepare equipment schedules in line with Employers’ Requirements, project specifications, and design standards.
  • Review and verify design documents and calculations for accuracy and compliance with building regulations and British Standards.
  • Identify and resolve design risks with practical, well-communicated solutions.
  • Collaborate professionally with clients, consultants, and contractors in design meetings and through technical queries.
  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation using electronic document management systems.
  • Support the development and delivery of installation-level Stage 5 designs.
  • Represent the company at client and project team meetings throughout the design and delivery process.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical building services or HVAC design.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, Hevacomp, and familiarity with SAP/SBEM modelling tools.
  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with technical submissions and document management systems.
  • HNC or higher qualification in Building Services or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with a proactive, team-oriented approach.
