Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Teaching Personnel is working with specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools in Southampton, and we are looking to recruit a committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their dedicated teams.

The Role:

As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will support students who face social, emotional, or mental health challenges that impact their ability to access mainstream education. Your role will involve:

Providing 1:1 and small group support

Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation

Assisting with learning across the curriculum

Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils

Working alongside teachers and SEN professionals to deliver tailored support plans

About the School:

SEMH schools cater to pupils aged between 5 and 16 who require specialist support due to behavioural, emotional or mental health needs. These schools provide a nurturing and structured environment focused on personal development, academic progress, and emotional wellbeing.

Ideal Candidate:

Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (SEMH, SEN, PRU, or similar)

Strong behaviour management skills

Resilient, patient, and calm under pressure

Able to build rapport with challenging pupils

A proactive and empathetic attitude

Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)

What We Offer:

£13.75 per hour, paid weekly

Term time only, full-time hours

Temp to perm opportunity after successful trial period

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
