Role Profile

Are you ready to take the lead in payroll management within the financial services sector? We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee our payroll, pension, and employee benefits processes. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with all regulations while providing exceptional support to our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Manage the monthly payroll, ensuring adherence to remuneration policies and procedures at every stage.
  • Employment Changes: Coordinate with the People Team and payroll providers to accurately process all employment changes, ensuring timely payments for our employees.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Prepare P11Ds, year-end statements, and P60s, ensuring thorough review and authorization. Monitor compliance with company policies, HMRC requirements, and payroll legislation.
  • Tax and Contributions Management: Ensure timely payments of employee taxes, national insurance, and employer pension contributions, while managing voluntary deductions.
  • Point of Contact: Act as the primary contact for payroll queries from employees and non-executive directors, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Audit and Reporting: Conduct month-end payroll reconciliations, prepare reports for the Senior Leadership Team, and serve as the main contact for external auditors regarding payroll queries.
  • Legislation Updates: Stay informed about current payroll legislation and recommend best practices to enhance operational efficiency.

Skills & Experience:

  • Expertise in Payroll: Proven experience managing payroll processes within a finance function, including flexible benefits. Familiarity with HMRC requirements, taxable and non-taxable benefits, and director emoluments is essential.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in finance and HRIS systems, with experience managing flexible benefits portfolios. Familiarity with Aon's online portal is a plus.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to cultivate strong relationships with employees, managers, and external stakeholders to facilitate an effective payroll service.
  • Continuous Improvement: A proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements in payroll processes and systems.
