Prospero Teaching are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Tutor to support a young learner transitioning into Year 8, currently working at a Year 5 level in Maths and English. This rewarding role involves delivering 1:1 tuition in a nurturing and engaging way, tailored to the learner's unique needs and interests.
About the Learner: - Has an EHCP and a diagnosis of Global Learning Delay
- Experiences sensory needs that may affect learning depending on the environment and task
- Described as shy at first, but very caring once comfortable
- A big animal lover and passionate about gardening - even created a small book on the topic!
- Finds writing challenging, but is motivated and creative
As a Tutor, you will:
- Deliver engaging and personalised tuition sessions (3 hours/day, 4 days/week)
- Support literacy and numeracy development at a Year 5 level
- Create a calm and motivating learning environment
- Track progress and adapt plans as needed
About you:
- Experience working with learners with SEN, particularly Global Learning Delay
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit sensory and emotional needs
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
- Creativity in lesson planning, especially incorporating interests like gardening and animals
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with the learner and family

- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
