As Commercial Strategy Manager you will lead the development, delivery, and execution of our Commercial Innovation Strategy. You will manage a talented team dedicated to driving decarbonisation, de-pollution, and resource-efficiency initiatives across the organisation.

Description

Acting as a senior strategic advisor, you will collaborate with operational leaders and partner with stakeholders at C-suite level to challenge traditional thinking, stimulate debate, and unlock sustainable value creation. You will also act as a cross-functional innovation lead, strengthening customer relationships and positively shifting market perceptions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor high-performing teams across strategy and innovation (3-8 direct reports)
• Drive commercial innovation across the business using creative, disruptive, and future-focused thinking
• Manage major strategic projects and ensure alignment with the wider commercial strategy
• Build trusted partnerships with customers and senior leaders
• Identify commercial and environmental innovation opportunities, creating new value propositions
• Support Net Zero and decarbonisation initiatives for both the organisation and customers
• Develop sustainability-led commercial offerings
• Collaborate with academic and research partners to advance insight and capability
• Champion our organisational values and mission across the industry

Profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• Experienced leader within the waste, environmental, or related sectors
• Proven track record managing cross-functional, high-performing teams
• Strong strategic thinker with the ability to embed and execute long-term plans
• Influential communicator with experience engaging senior leadership
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
• High commercial acumen and the ability to work autonomously
• Excellent analytical skills and long-term strategic insight
• Strong understanding of ecological transformation
• IOSH Managing Safely certification
• Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or equivalent experience
• Relevant degree
• Knowledge of PRINCE2 or similar project management methodologies
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methods
