Job Title: Principal Air Quality Consultant
Location: Remote - open to applicants anywhere in the UK
Salary: £60,000-£70,000 + Excellent Benefits

A respected environmental consultancy is looking to bring on board a Principal Air Quality Consultant to strengthen and grow its national air quality offering. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, commercially minded specialist to step into a senior role that blends technical delivery, strategic input, and business development.

You'll be a key figure in guiding complex air quality and dispersion modelling projects, working closely with clients and regulators, and shaping the future direction of the team. This position offers genuine influence within a supportive organisation that values innovation, collaboration and professional development.

The Opportunity

In this senior post, you will take responsibility for overseeing major air quality projects across the UK, ensuring technical quality while maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. You'll contribute to team growth, mentor junior colleagues, and help steer the consultancy's ongoing expansion in the air quality sector.

Core Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of large-scale air quality and dispersion modelling projects

Provide expert technical input to EIAs and broader environmental assessments

Nurture existing client relationships and identify new business opportunities

Prepare commercial proposals, tenders, and strategic plans

Support and mentor junior and mid-level consultants

Work collaboratively with regulators, planning authorities, and multidisciplinary teams

About You

Minimum of 8 years' experience in air quality consultancy or a related regulatory field

Strong knowledge of tools such as ADMS, AERMOD, and IAQM/EPUK guidance

A proven background in business development and client management

Confident leadership skills and experience supporting or managing teams

Degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Chemistry, or a similar subject

Chartered status (CEnv / IAQM) beneficial

Excellent communication, organisation and commercial awareness
