About the Role

Walsall Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Children in Care Team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people by providing high-quality social work support and care planning.

Location: Civic Centre, Walsall (with flexibility to work from home and the Leaving Care Hub)

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
• Develop and implement care plans in line with statutory requirements and best practice.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes.
• Attend reviews, court hearings, and other statutory meetings as required.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation.
• Support young people transitioning to independence through effective planning and engagement.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
• Experience working within Children in Care services.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks and care planning processes.
• Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List clearance.
