We are currently recruiting an experienced and passionate Chef on behalf of a respected care home provider. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a supportive and person-centred environment, where your skills will contribute directly to residents' wellbeing and quality of life.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and preparation of nutritious, high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents, while ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver well-balanced, appetising daily menus tailored to residents' nutritional needs and preferences.

*

Manage food purchasing, stock control, and kitchen budgeting to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.

*

Oversee food storage, preparation, and service in line with current health, safety, and hygiene standards.

*

Maintain accurate food stock records and ensure timely ordering of supplies.

*

Lead, train, and support kitchen staff to uphold standards and deliver excellent service.

*

Ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained kitchen environment at all times.

*

Engage positively with residents and respond to feedback in a professional, caring manner.

*

Participate in team meetings, audits, and required training.

Ideal Candidate Profile

*

Previous experience as a Chef in a care home, healthcare, or hospitality environment.

*

Strong culinary skills and a genuine passion for preparing nutritious meals.

*

Knowledge of dietary requirements and experience in developing menus to suit various needs (e.g. soft diets, diabetic-friendly meals).

*

Understanding of food hygiene, COSHH, and infection control procedures.

*

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

*

Positive team leader who can motivate and manage kitchen staff effectively.

*

Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work some weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

*

Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 2 (minimum); Level 3 preferred or willingness to work towards it.

*

NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation or Catering (or equivalent).

First Aid certification desirable
