A little about the role and service

Flying Start Playgroups provide funded support for eligible children under 3 years old across a variety of locations in Bridgend. We are now seeking an experienced Playgroup Team Leader who can help us continue to deliver an excellent service to children. We provide Welsh and Bilingual sessional day care for children and help them to achieve their full potential in readiness for the next step of their lives. Our ideal candidate will have a keen passion for Early Years child care and have a solid understanding of best practice within the industry, gained from experience and study.

Candidates with experience in a leadership role within early years are encouraged to apply, as are those who are currently in similar role.

You will make a difference by:

  • Being responsible for the day-to-day running of the playgroup, in line with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Leading and encouraging the team to create a rich and stimulating play environment that promotes children''s development and encourages them to explore and discover
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess children''s development needs and implement appropriate support plans
  • Ensuring Safeguarding policies and procedures are in place throughout the service
  • Build and maintain excellent rapport with parents and stakeholders to ensure high quality of services being delivered

What are we looking for from you?

  • CCLD Level 5 qualification or recognised equivalent (this is stipulated by CIW)

  • Leadership experience including supervision, delegation, performance management and staff development
  • Knowledge and understanding of CIW requirements and current relevant legislation
  • Must be a driver with own transport is essential
  • IT competency to an intermediate level to enable report writing and analysis
  • Experience within an early years setting is essential

Need to Know: The nursery follows term time for mainstream schools and is open for 39 weeks of the year. Your salary will therefore be based on 44.9 weeks.

If you require support in applying or have any questions then don''t hesitate to contact Carla Smart on 01923 361 739.

Please Note: Action for Children reserves the right to close a role earlier than the closing date applied, where an excess level of response has been received or a role has been filled earlier than anticipated. Any decision to close a role earlier than advertised is to ensure the best candidate experience is delivered at all times.
