Head of HR
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources professional to lead on all aspects of Human Resources at Mansfield College, Oxford.

Mansfield is committed to the effective management of its staff and is looking to appoint its first dedicated Head of HR. The appointee will therefore play a major role in the development and delivery of human resources policy, legal compliance and best practice in the College, covering all College employees including Fellows and academic staff.
Head of HR Responsibilities
As the Head HR some of your duties will include:
- Supporting the Principal, Bursar, Senior Tutor and senior College staff with human resources guidance
- Managing recruitment processes
- Leading on training and development initiatives
- Delivering inductions
- Offering welfare support to staff
- Managing staff disciplinary and grievance cases and related investigations
Head of HR Experience
An excellent understanding of employment law, good practice, and data protection legislation is essential. (For complex employment matters, external advice is available).
We are looking for an individual with a pragmatic approach who is able to offer solution-oriented human resources advice and show emotional intelligence and discretion in handling sensitive personnel matters. Previous experience in higher education is not essential, but it is important for the post holder to have demonstrated experience in ensuring equality and fairness at work and in education, in a lively and diverse academic community.
Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent, hold an appropriate professional qualification (CIPD or equivalent) and have proven experience in HR management. Familiarity with human resources issues in higher education is desirable. The post requires excellent communication, negotiation and facilitation skills, energy, tact, initiative and enthusiasm.
