East London

I am currently working with a Tier 1 Main Contractor that are looking for an Assistant Design Manager for a £15 million new build residential scheme in East London.

The Assistant Design Manager is required to support the design management process during the delivery of a construction project; provide support to Senior Design Manager on tenders. At this level, Assistant Design Managers are given the opportunity to develop a broad base of technical and professional skills and knowledge

Monitor and support the implementation of project specific design management processes and protocols, e.g. design execution plan, in line with the companies standard design procedures and reporting progress against programme

Assist PM/SDM in the procurement of design services by contributing towards the definition of consultants' scopes of services and responsibilities

Ensure effective implementation and management of document control processes of design information relating to subcontractors and consultants in line with the companies protocols

Ensure effective coordination of the request for information process for the project

Undertake and take full ownership, under guidance and close working relationship with the Project Quantity Surveyor, of a number of trade scope and responsibility documents

Find solutions for on-site technical problems

Develop a detailed understanding of the project scope and requirements, and the scope of services for all design related consultants

Liaise with client's team, project team and other project stakeholders on developing an understanding of design issues, drawing reviews and supporting the Project Lead in their decision-making process

Undertake design-related risk management reviews and workshops with site team and input into the project risk register

Produce regular progress summaries of specific elements of the design consultant and/or subcontractor in relation to involvement

Contribute to contractor proposals and client and internal reports
