About the Role
A leading UK general aviation engine maintenance facility, located near Reading in Berkshire, is seeking an experienced Engine Mechanic / Build Engineer to join their growing team. Specialising in the overhaul, repair, and testing of Lycoming and Continental (flat 4- and 6-cylinder) piston engines, this role is also well-suited to mechanics with a background in automotive engine building.
You will work in a professionally equipped facility, carrying out repairs and overhauls on normally aspirated and turbocharged, air-cooled piston engines. This is a safety-critical role that demands precision and a keen eye for detail in both engineering and documentation. Opportunities to support dyno testing and ongoing professional development are included, and full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities

Overhaul, repair, and assemble 4- and 6-cylinder piston engines (“boxer configuration”) for both general aviation and automotive applications
Support dyno engine testing and associated performance assessments
Ensure all work and documentation complies with internal procedures, MOE, and EASA Part 145 aviation regulations
Complete, accurate record-keeping and use of digital documentation systems (training on Aerotrac provided)
Work to tight deadlines and uphold high safety standards
Carry out additional workshop or ad hoc duties as requiredAbout You

Essential: Previous experience working on piston engines (aviation or automotive)
Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to safety-critical processes
Proactive, conscientious, and able to work well both independently and within a small, close-knit team
Good communication skills and computer literacy
Willingness to carry out ad hoc duties as required and to learn digital systems
