SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) - SEN School

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs? 

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join SEN school. This fantastic school in the heart of Bournemouth provides a specialised learning environment for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health), speech and language difficulties, physical disabilities, and cognitive impairments. We are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and safe space where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

Support students with SEN to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
Assist in implementing individual learning plans and behavior management strategies.
Provide emotional and social support to help students develop confidence and resilience.
Support students during transitions, breaks, and outdoor activities.
Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to monitor progress.
Promote a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Record observations and contribute to the ongoing assessment of student progress.
The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN or behavioral needs.
Knowledge of behavior management and de-escalation techniques.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Supporting Children and Young People or similar) is desirable but not essential
